Wear Who You Are: Align Your Style With Your True Self

The arrival of my first shipment of published and printed color analysis books was incredibly thrilling. I meticulously inspected each copy of every seasonal book to ensure no printing errors. Two weeks post-op from knee replacement surgery, I wasn't on my "A" game, but I was determined to get the color books shipped to the recipients while recovering. I boxed up books for shipment between icing, exercises, and napping.

Right after shipping the first batch, I jumped into prepping the next. As I flipped through the Summer books one more time—just to double-check—I caught something off. The cover said Summer, but inside? It was the Spring content! It was a total mix-up. I contacted the printer immediately. They apologized and rushed a corrected batch to print. Some of you may remember—I reached out personally, asking you to double-check your copy for any errors.
You might wonder why I’m sharing this story. Over time, I came to see it as a powerful metaphor—one that mirrors the deep and often complicated relationship many women have with their personal style. Honestly, I think God was nudging me through the mix-up, and I couldn’t help but smile.
As an image consultant, one of the most common obstacles I see is this: many women have no idea how to define their personal style, let alone align it with who they truly are. It feels like a mystery—overwhelming, confusing, and hard to begin.
As most of you know, I believe our style choices come from God's design. God designed you as a Spirit, Soul, and Body. You are a Spirit with a Soul (thoughts, feelings, will, personality) that lives in a body. Your personality is what makes you who you are. That personality is the one who goes shopping for your clothes. If we are disconnected from our true selves, we cannot reflect the woman God designed us to be. We must know ourselves before we can know our style.
Several factors that might cause disconnection include, but are not limited to:

Influencers
Fear of Rejection
Self-Rejection
No Self-Esteem
Negative Body Image
How many women wake up each day and pick an outfit based on what an influencer says is “great fashion for everyone”? One look, expected to fit every age, skin tone, hair color, body type, and height—you see the problem. Style isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s fluid, personal, and meant to reflect you.
I thought my Summer book had the wrong inside—but it turns out, my Spring book had the wrong outside! And it hit me… how many of us are walking around with the wrong outside?

When your outward appearance doesn't reflect your true self, it creates a disconnect. But discovering your True Nature—the beauty of who you really are—sets you free to express yourself authentically.
When your outside aligns with your inside, something powerful happens. You show up as the woman God designed you to be—complete, confident, and whole.
✨ Self-discovery becomes a joyful journey.
✨ Confidence replaces confusion.
✨ Your style starts speaking your name.
Imagine:
A wardrobe that matches your personal color palette
Clothes that flatter your shape and fit your life
Garment styles that feel like you
Self-esteem that’s rooted in identity, not trends
A look you love—because it finally reflects who you are
Once you know who you are, you’ll never dress for anyone else again. Just you. And that’s more than enough.
So maybe it’s time to pause and ask yourself: Does my outside match the woman God designed on the inside?
Because when it does—when your wardrobe, your confidence, and your identity all flow from the same place—you don’t just look good. You feel whole.
This isn’t about chasing trends. It’s about coming home to yourself.
You were never meant to blend in. You were created to shine—with clarity, beauty, and purpose.
💛 Let this be the season you align your style (body) with your soul (personality) and your spirit. Because the world doesn’t need another copy. It needs you.
Your Style Starts With Stillness
Before you think about your wardrobe, take a moment to still your soul. Let this prayer and truth speak over you as you begin your journey.

A Prayer for Alignment: Lord, help me see myself through Your eyes—fearfully and wonderfully made. Guide me to live, dress, and show up in a way that honors who You created me to be. Let my outside reflect the light You’ve placed within me. Amen.
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”– Romans 12:2
